Westwind School Division is shedding light on Autism Spectrum Disorder by offering a free public presentation on autism by Karen Sudom, May 27 at the Cardston High School. ‘Autism Immersion’ will allow participants to engage in activities designed to simulate social and communication difficulties encountered by people with Autism Spectrum Disorder. The session, which goes from 7-9 p.m. in the Multipurpose Room, will also allow them a chance to practice using tools and supports designed to help face those challenges. The information will be useful not only for parents and family members of those with ASD, but also anyone dealing with children from schools to day homes, to Sunday school, sports and youth groups. Some of the supports discussed can also be helpful for other conditions like Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder and Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorders.
