The Southern Alberta Technology Council (SATC) is pleased to be the Host Organization for Canada-Wide Science Fair 2013 - Lethbridge.
Canada’s top science fair students are coming to Lethbridge, Alberta this May to attend Youth Science Canada's 52nd annual Canada-Wide Science Fair, presented by BlackBerry. Finalists will be selected from over 100 regional science fairs held across Canada to present their projects at this week-long event, May 11th – 18th, 2013 at the University of Lethbridge. 500 student finalists will be accompanied by approximately 200 delegates/chaperones. Over 300 qualified science fair judges will be recruited to judge the student projects, and they will award close to $1 million dollars in cash, prizes and scholarships for the most outstanding projects.
Beyond showcasing their projects in the competition, finalists will attend a grand opening ceremony and banquet, visit research facilities at the University of Lethbridge, attend the gala awards ceremony and banquet at the Enmax Centre, and see tourism highlights of Southern Alberta, all while making life-long friendships with fellow participants from coast to coast. Approximately 2,600 students from schools in Southern Alberta will also have an opportunity to visit the Exhibit Hall at the University of Lethbridge and interact with the national finalists during school tours on May 13, 16 and 17. Public viewing opportunities are offered on May 12, 13, 16 and 17.
As part of the festivities at the Opening Ceremony, Microsoft Canada will present the first Canada-Wide Science Fair Alumni Award to an outstanding CWSF alumnus who best personifies excellence in innovation, science and technology in their chosen field.
Tickets to the Awards Ceremony at the ENMAX CENTRE (Thursday, May 16th) are available by calling The Ticket Centre (403) 329-SEAT(7328). A $5.00 administration fee will apply.
